Privacy Policy
Version 1.1 | Updated 29 September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Miaga Technologies LLP ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you use the Mohabbath app and the website mohabbathmatrimony.com (the "Platform"). We handle personal data in line with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, as applicable.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us:
- account details such as name, mobile number, email address, date of birth and gender;
- profile details such as photographs, height, education, occupation, annual income range, location, family details, religion, community and sect, languages and partner preferences;
- religious practice details such as prayer, Quran reading, fasting and Zakat, which you choose to share;
- messages and communications with other members and with us;
- support requests and feedback.
If you create a profile for someone else (such as your son, daughter, brother, sister or a relative or friend), you give us that person's details, and you confirm that you have their knowledge and consent.
Identity verification (optional): if you choose to verify your identity, we collect a live selfie and compare it with your profile photo. This is biometric information, which is sensitive personal data. We use a verification service provider to do this comparison, and we use the result only to confirm your profile and show a verification status. Other members see only whether you are verified, not your selfie.
Information collected automatically:
- device and app information such as device model, operating system, app version, IP address and identifiers;
- usage information such as pages and features used, profiles you view, shortlist, proposals and time spent;
- approximate or precise location, only if you allow it in your device settings.
Payment information: payments are processed by third-party payment providers such as Razorpay. We receive confirmation of the transaction, but we do not store your full card, UPI or bank details.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- create and manage your account and verify your mobile number by OTP;
- show your profile to other members and suggest matches;
- enable messaging, proposals and contact-sharing features;
- verify profiles where you choose to verify your identity;
- process payments and provide premium features;
- send service messages, alerts and, where you agree, promotional messages by SMS, WhatsApp, email or app notifications;
- review reports and keep the Platform safe, detect fraud and misuse, and enforce our Terms;
- understand how the Platform is used and improve it;
- meet our legal obligations.
3. Consent
By registering and using the Platform, you consent to our collecting and using your information as described here. Some details, such as religion, community, religious practice, income and identity verification data, are sensitive and you give them voluntarily to help find a suitable match or to verify your profile. You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your account or writing to us, although some features may then stop working.
4. Who can see your information
Your profile is visible to other registered members according to the features of the Platform and the privacy settings you choose. You can control who sees each of your photos (all members, premium members, members you approve, or only you), temporarily hide your profile, and block members. Your main profile photo is visible to all members. Faith and practice details are shared only as your visibility settings allow. Your phone number is shared only through the contact-sharing feature after the request is approved. Members may be able to see that you viewed their profile, and premium members may see who has visited their profile. Please share personal contact details with other members carefully.
5. Sharing with others
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- service providers who help us run the Platform, such as cloud hosting, SMS and WhatsApp delivery, payment processing, identity verification and analytics providers, who may use it only to provide their services to us;
- our Trust and Safety team, which may review reported profiles and messages;
- government or law-enforcement bodies where the law requires it, or to protect rights, safety and property;
- a buyer or successor, if our business is transferred, subject to this Policy.
6. Retention
We keep your information while your account is active and for as long as needed afterwards for legal, accounting, security and dispute-resolution purposes. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymise your profile within, except where we must keep certain records by law. If you only deactivate or hide your profile, we keep your information so you can return.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect your information, including access controls and encryption in transit. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your rights
You may ask us to access, correct, update or delete your personal information, to withdraw your consent, or to nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity. The Platform is meant only for adults who are legally eligible to marry. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone below the minimum ages in our Terms (18 for women and 21 for men). If we learn that we have, we will remove the profile and delete the information, except where we must keep it as evidence or report it under the law. Please see our Child Safety Standards.
10. Cookies on our website
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to keep it working and to understand how it is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
11. Where your data is stored
